Funding Requiremens

When we grant funding to an organization, we follow these basic guidelines:

• Your goals align with the AWS Foundation’s mission
• Your request emphasizes innovative, new approaches that address the needs of people with developmental and/or physical disabilities.
• Your request meets the specific focus of each grant cycle (see above for current focus)

We will not fund individuals, support fundraising activities of other organizations or support religious activities. If you have questions about how your grant request aligns with our guidelines, please give call us.

Read

Read through all the requirements for your application. We have listed all the required documents at the bottom of this page and a downloadable PDF (to the right). We suggest you download the Checklist PDF to help you prepare all the required documents and forms.

Prepare

Prepare all required documents before beginning your application. Take your time. It’s important that you describe the purpose of your grant request well and show the Foundation that you will use the money responsibly.

Upload

When everything is prepared, begin the application. All documents must be uploaded through this web site. We accept many file formats, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe PDF, etc.

Wait For

You will receive a confirmation e-mail when your documents have been uploaded to AWSF. If something is missing from your application, we will contact you so you can provide it. Otherwise, grant recipients will be notified according to the grant calendar.

  • One sentence description of grant request
  • Grant type requested: Program, Capital or Operating
  • Total program cost and grant amount requested

Executive Summary:

  • One page summary of grant narrative written on organization's letterhead
  • Signatures of Board President and organization's Executive Director / President

Grant Narrative (not to exceed five pages):

  • Overview of organization's mission, history, programs, people served, staffing and distinctions
  • Description of program/project
  • Amount requested
  • Implementation timetable
  • Evaluation methodology to determine grant effectiveness
  • Line item budget for the proposed program/project
  • Other funding sources (secured/pending amounts)

Attached Documents:

  • IRS 501(c)(3) not-for-profit determination letter
  • Organization's general operating budget (detailing revenue and expenses) for the current fiscal year and the fiscal year in which the funds will be used
  • Organization's most recent 990 filed with the IRS
  • Board of directors: officers and member names and professional affiliation
  • Board meeting dates and times.
