Indiana Disability Resource FINDER — Seek, Discover, Connect, Inform

It’s often said that one doesn’t know what they don’t know until someone shows them what they are missing. Awareness is the significant piece that allows us to see things and work toward understanding.

Disability Awareness Month seeks to raise awareness about including people with disabilities in all areas of community life. It also sheds light on the difficulties that people with disabilities face.

One of those difficulties is that people with disabilities and their support networks have long struggled to find disability-related programs, services, and information available in their communities. That is where Indiana Disability Resource FINDER can help.

FINDER can be a go-to space for individuals with disabilities, family, friends, caregivers, and allies. It directly connects people with available programs, services, and disability-related resources. FINDER helps individuals and families improve their quality of life and works to create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive community. Last year, FINDER had over 17,000 Hoosiers visit the site seeking help and looking for information.

You can make a difference by sharing IndianaDisabilityResourceFINDER.org with those around your community. If you have experience with disability-related programs or services, go a step further and consider contributing information to the FINDER program. The FINDER team researches each submission before publication so that each listing is complete, accurate, and valid.

While there will always be gaps in our knowledge, awareness of Indiana Disability Resource FINDER can help us identify and understand opportunities to make a positive difference.
